Recipient: Morgese, Ippolita (Firenze, Italy) in affiliation with Medici Archive Project (Skaneateles, NY 13152 USA)
Description: The Medici Archive Project will sponsor three panels at the Renaissance Society of America (Chicago, April 3-5, 2008). This annual event constitutes the most important crossroads for the Renaissance academic community in America and abroad. Six Medici Archive Project Fellows will present original papers dealing with the history of diplomacy, religion, gender, medicine, and art in the Early Modern period. These studies, based on research from the Medici Archives, are entirely unpublished, and represent important new contributions to their respective disciplines. Fellows will benefit from discussing the state of their work in a forum of world-wide experts from all different disciplines. On a more international level, the Medici Archive Project and its Fellows will also promote their studies and activities throughout the course of the conference.

Recipient: Assonitis, Alessio Giovanni Maria (Florence, NY 50122 Italy) in affiliation with Medici Archive Project (Skaneateles, NY 13152 USA)
Goal: One three-year humanities fellowship.
Description: The Medici Archive Project is an American Research Institution that carries out scholarly activities in the National Archive in Florence, Italy (Archivio di Stato di Firenze). Part of MAP's mission is to train emerging scholars in the values and methods of archival research in the context of an ongoing Fellowship Program, giving them the opportunity to make such research an integral part of their scholarly careers. Funding is thus sought for two NEH Research Fellows who will come to MAP for three years each (from September 2006 through August 2009 and September 2007 through August 2010). In the course of their three years with MAP, Fellows spend 20 months collaborating with MAP's research team onsite in the Florentine National Archive and the remaining time (16 months) carrying out independent research on a proposed topic of their choice. After the conclusion of their fellowships, Project Alumnae pursue scholarly careers, bringing their enhanced knowledge and expertise to universities, museums and research institutions around the world.
